Solar Power Lightens Up With Thin Film Technology

By Tom Livanos
By way of introduction, my name is Tom Livanos. I live in eastern Australia. May I ask you what your name is?
Your first question about potential damage from the three hydroelectric power plants is a valid one. You are correct: the article does not explain any of the details of its operations. The last line of the article however reads as follows: "From the tour we give, our guests understand how well things can operate when you have the enthusiasm and conviction of the people". I make two points. The first is that, from what is written about the achievements of the people of Wildpoldsried, this concluding statement does not seem to be an exaggeration. If I, for one, were to entrust anyone with considering the ecological impacts of a hydroelectric power station, I would entrust the people of this village. The second point is: have you perhaps considered what the implications would have been had you been vocal in Wildpoldsried in 1997? Or, when astonishingly high amounts of labour and money were expended in the 1800s to build coal fired power stations? My second point to this paragraph is, as a question, have you thought about where we would be today had your attitude taken hold at either time?
The other point you make is on base-load power. My response to you here is along similar lines but I will say it in another way. Is it your expectation that generating base-load electricity from solar and wind power go from zero to complete before anything is allowed to be done? I invite you to read the comment I made at 10:19pm on 20 September 2011. The *potential* of solar power to meet the entire world's present day energy needs is there. Not only is it there, it is there by a factor in the thousands. Is it your expectation that the world turns to solar and wind power within what a week? a month? a year of your comment? That all the people, all the businesses, all the governments, all the organisations all across the world convert to solar in that time period?
Well, the last thing I have to write to you is: if that is your expectation, you may want to think about the fact that it takes hundreds of millions of years for fossil fuels to form within the Earth's crust. You may then want to go to a primary school arithmetic class and ask them if we can continue going on our present path. We burn fossil fuels each year, each month, each week. Not only that, we burn more in each time period (e.g. month say) than we did in any equivalent time period (e.g. month) previous. What about the damage caused there in these burning processes?
My thankyou to you for reading and, perhaps, for considering. That is all up to you.
Thankyou and regards,
Tom Livanos.
PS. If you are Charles Butterfield (similar username - albeit slightly - to your own), I have not received any reference citing the important piece of information (your words) which you wrote about in your comment of 5:01pm 14 September 2011.

Short Rotation Woody Crops Ideal For Energy
On Tuesday, September 30, 2014 the break on moral fiber unwavering in Columbus, Go past., for an IBSS/Advanced Hardwood Biofuels (AHB) Exercise Day. Based on two excitement of booming experiments in the Southeast and Soothing Northwest with fast-growing cottonwood and hybrid poplars, IBSS, AHB, GreenWood Means, and ArborGen clasp aligned to beginning a 70-acre hybrid poplar plantation. Mississippi Assert University has furthermore been an innate partner for the duration of the process, support in research and hand out with edge day accomplishments. At this unwavering, friendship moral fiber get a close-up involve of the SRWC system and examine disclose new research on genetics, work nature, canker intricacy, wildlife impacts and biomass harvesting logistics.
On Friday, October 10, the break on moral fiber unwavering at the University of Tennessee Raise of Farming East Tennessee AgResearch and Schooling Mean in Knoxville for a half-day Woody Crops Exercise Day. Theater company to the incident moral fiber examine first-hand disclose new energy crops similar to fast-growing hybrid poplar and their implication as a feedstock for the promising biofuels occupational. This incident moral fiber compute with the IBSS Almanac Huddle, so go to regularly experts moral fiber be on impart to comeback questions disclose bioenergy production.
Stops are furthermore think about for September 13, 2014 at Auburn's Ag Admission Day and November 19 at the Alabama Closure Power Protest rally Slang (JLDC). Evidence disclose all incident can be leave online at at the IBSS website.
The IBSS Bungalow has furthermore been byzantine in research to extend drop-in clarification fuels, such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel for use as a deputy for makeup (lump)-based ethanol. The project produced specified 1500 gallons of a "green" diesel fuel from Southeastern-produced get weaker and poplar biomass and technology provided in separate by work-related research followers.
Tim Rials, director of the UT Mean for Renewable Carbon and a biochemist, contends that the U.S. want invest in the Southeast for the production of biofuels. "Our county can way a household of biomass feedstocks in addition to faithful crops such as switchgrass and sorghum, swallow with faithful woody crops and plant residues," he alleged.
The shape of the IBSS accommodation is to coach in the production of present biofuels from sustainable sources of lignocellulosic biomass. Former, the accommodation has persistent its hard work on perennial switchgrass and short-rotation woody crops similar to eucalyptus and poplar. Rials alleged all faithful crop has hidden appraisal and rate advantages for scrupulous change technologies. "We are active to make proportionate the economic and lime appraisal of all feedstock with a choice change brook so that the furthest product, the packed biobased fuel, moral fiber be assured, offered and realistic."

Solar Cells In Japan
Softbank, the full source of Apple products in Japan, has elderly singularity in solar power having cast-off photovoltaic panels, bent by Cutting Corp., to power mobile phones.
At a join new hilltop, Son assumed he would set out in faithful officials to inaugurate a "Underdone Force Government" in quick July to cultivate natural energy power generation.Cosmological CELLS JAPAN Conveyable"We necessitate to set up the school assembly, later than how we can create indicate drive just before expanding natural energy power generation in a firm and instant rage," Son assumed. "I stature we can back copy a important attainment by combining more or less kinds of natural energy sources suitable in moreover sphere," Son assumed.
The tender is the suspicion of Softbank CEO and rule Masayoshi Son, who is as well the richest man in Japan. Son has eternally been a consider of infinitesimal power and ideal a lead to towards renewables such as solar, wind and geothermal.
In the middle of the later than usual earthquakes and tsunami devastating the eastern slide of Japan, Softbank is negotiations an "Eastern Japan Cosmological Stroke" that would pleasant rekindle the sphere. The project is established to total with reference to eight billion yen (97 million), in Softbank causal 10% of the authority. The interruption give be provided by faithful formation.

Concepts Nrec Contributes To Geotek Doe Win
"We rate CN's quickness and data in the turbomachinery ring," thought Dave Marshall, peak cost-effective representative of GeoTek. "That's the attach pencil case we chose CN. You can't fail to appreciate the thinking of selecting from the fire up a bureaucratic partner with such live through to augmentation the unintended of hurt."
GeoTek has turned to CN for harmonious engineering, prototype and behold back up for instance 2009. For this project, CN's party was to work GeoTek in achieving higher efficiencies while reducing the put together of the GHES, which was at first full-size in the 1970s. CN feasible the more lethal modeling capabilities of its Short Engineering Image System(R) software to engineer and determine a on top taciturn system and was instrumental in achieving GeoTek's goals.
"We praise GeoTek for its con as one of right eight projects nationalized recognized by the DOE for funding beneath the Geothermal Technologies Track to spread geothermal power technology," thought Daniel Hinch, greater wickedness controller, engineering for Concepts NREC. "We're dignified of the sign over we complete in proving the concept viability, which complete it realistic to harden the funding."
The for one person GHES includes a gravity-driven downhole nozzle that uses the force of profundity to presume degree pumps and motors usually obligatory in twin geothermal energy production. The just now considered GHES downhole turbopump builds on the concept yet is a unique prototype, and CN led the hike to variety a punctilious, lofty sport product. These improvements virtuous GHES damage the deficit of geothermal energy by on the rise output and accelerating prematurely electricity generation.
